research based teaching

Our teaching is based on researched and practiced methods that are shown to work. Children are taught individually and in groups so that they get focused attention and learn to participate in social learning environments. Within our lessons, we utilise cooperative learning activities to ensure diverse learners are catered for.
At Young Minds, we follow the National Quality Framework for all the students in our care. This means that children are taught by qualified Educators and teachers to standards set around Australia to get them school ready. Lessons are planned in advance and are delivered in sequence to help children obtain literacy, numeracy and understanding of the natural world.

Kindergarten

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” ~ Albert Einstein

At Young Minds we believe that early life experiences have a direct impact on how children develop learning skills as well as their social and emotional abilities. As such, we provide 3 year old and 4 year old kinder programs, which are both planned and led by qualified kindergarten teachers.

Inventors

3 year old kindergarten

This is a play-based program based on children’s own interests, as well as intentional teaching activities. Lessons are designed to ensure children gain confidence, improve motor-coordination, regulate emotions and express opinions and ideas.

Innovators

4 year old kindergarten

This program is delivered in accordance with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. The program aims to foster children’s independence, ability to use and recognise language and numeracy, as well as physical coordination through play, art, dance, music, movement and interacting with others.

Early Learning

At Young Minds, our learning program is tailored specifically to meet each child’s developmental needs.

We use play-based and constructivist teaching strategies to promote and scaffold learning. We also create portfolios to highlight each child’s developmental stage, interests and learning dispositions. Our Montessori inspired classrooms are highly aesthetic with authentic learning environments that are complemented by technology enabled learning: where tablets, apps and interactive videos are utilised to teach children.

Dreamers

3 months to 18 months

Our educators utilise routines as opportunities to help infants to learn how to move and communicate, as well as to build their visual motor skills and sensory development to assist them to understand their world. We take every opportunity to show lots of love and to give cuddles to ensure that all babies needs are met and that they gain comfort from touch.

Explorers

18 months to 3 years

Toddlers are full of energy as they learn to improve their movement and communication. We utilise play and games to help them develop their hand-eye coordination, early literacy skills, as well as to guide them in their exploration and creative expression.
